Who owns the copyright to technologies such as RFID and NFC (Near field communication)?

i have thought up of some interesting unique new technologies that rely (to an extent) on the use NFC. however, its still in the early stages and before i devote any more time (and money) on this project I need to know how free I am to use NFC in my products commercially. for example if i go ahead and develop this idea, i dont want to get sued by the owners of that technology (if that makes sense?)
Also will i be able to patent my idea which relies on nfc even though that technology isnt mine? or would i need to get permission/rights from whoever owns it?

YOu absolutely can use commercially available devices in your product. if you buy if off the manufacturer (who will make any patent license payments) you can do what you like with it.

You can patent an improvement on another invention. In fact MOST inventions are simply improvements.
